A listing for an "XL Edition" of realistic 2010 racer Gran Turismo 5 has appeared on Amazon, Newegg and Buy.com, prompting some to speculate that Sony is about to announce a lineup of PS3 games specifically for giants. In all seriousness, our first though was of Nintendo's DSi XL, though if Sony starts porting PS3 exclusives to an obsolete and ill-received handheld then we'll ultimately have some bigger questions.

Far more likely, as Joystiq points out, is that GT5 XL is the North American version of the upcoming Japanese title Gran Turismo 5 Spec II. The new edition will likely not include the game's DLC expansions, but will come with the nearly 2GB of updates that have come out since the game's releas. One commenter reveals that a fresh copy of GT5 took six hours to install; hence, we're guessing, the XL.

Is this just a ploy to sell more copies of a year-plus-old game, or is it a gift to fans who don't want to wait 6 hours to play for the first time? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter or Facebook.
