Rasheed Chappell is rapidly becoming one of my favorite "new" MCs. It's very refreshing when you meet someone who's involved in the art of rhyming who is equal parts old-soul, street savvy, humble, and able to straddle the gap between street slang and the Queen's English with such dexterity. To talk to the brother, you'd assume he was a corporate executive in the daytime with a passion for rap and hip-hop culture that he pursues when the sun goes down. Incredible talent, and equally impressive demeanor. It also doesn't hurt one bit that his primary co-sign and the producer of his first full length LP is none other than Kenny Dope. With friends like that in the studio, you know there will be NO whack juice dripping off of any of this brother's representation. Salute, Rasheed. It was an honor to have you at our first showcase, and here's to many more collaborations my brother. Check out Rashed's "Future Before Nostalgia" on Kay Dee Records.
