After a series of small, unsatisfying clues into director David Fincher's plans for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which included a short, dialogue-free trailer and several mugshots of the main characters, we finally have something with more substance.

The newly released trailer satisfies our hungry curiosities with almost four minutes of Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara in action, pulsating to the sound of Trent Reznor's anticipation-amping acoustics.

For fans of Stieg Larson's novels (which the film is based on) or those who saw the original Swedish adaption of the trilogy, the trailer confirms Fincher's allegiance to the material, but also intrigues with a several scenes that take a new, darker angle on the original. And for newcomers to the trilogy, the trailer offers a telling glimpse into some of the most pivotal moments of the plot, including the controversial rape scene that is the motivation behind the story's driving force, the tough-tongued Lisbeth Salander.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will makes its way into theaters December 21st. Consider it an early Christmas present.
