In 2010, Superman: Earth One reimagined the Man of Steel for the 21st Century and instantly became one of the best selling comic books of all time. DC’s “Earth One” line arrived like a tornado and caught everybody by surprise with its modern sensibilities and widescreen action. The only problem was that Batman: Earth One was nowhere to be found.
Even though it was promised to be a complimentary piece to Superman: Earth One, very little news was released about Batman: Earth One after the initial announcement in late 2009. But now, Comic Book Resources has the first look at the cover of the book, which is now slated for a May 8, 2012 release date. Written by Geoff Johns with art by Gary Frank, Batman: Earth One promises to detail the Dark Knight’s origin with an updated slant perfect for new readers, yet retaining the classic story beats that made the character appeal to a hardcore audience as well.
