Fulfilling all of our Saving Private Ryan Barry Pepper sniper rifle fantasies was Silent Scope, where we were actually able to get behind a scope and fire at enemies at will. The gameplay was intense, as you weren’t allowed to take as much time as a typical sniper would be allowed—but you also couldn’t rush too much if you wanted to get those much appreciated head shots. It was a lot of give and take, which was different for an arcade shooter at the time, and fun, too. And you truly had to use the scope as well, so none of that quickscoping nonsense you see in FPSes today.
