FINALLY! After our hype meter exploded at the sight of that epic Dead Island trailer, we've been frothing at the mouths for any news on the game. After a dribble of screenshots, European publisher Deep Silver has announced that they've entered a distribution deal with none other than RPG giant Square Enix. Squenix will handle distribution in North and South America, as well as marketing duites for the game. Deep Silver COO Geoff Mulligan explaned why they made the deal:

"Square Enix’s impressive distribution and marketing capabilities, combined with their proven success with launching top-notch AAA titles, makes them the absolute best partner for Dead Island. We’re thrilled to be partnering with their dedicated and talented team and look forward to collaborating with them in order to bring Dead Island to gamers."

Dead Island is slated to hit the XBox 360, PS3 and PC later this year. We can't wait to get an explanation on the family who got slaughtered by their infected daughter amidst a flood of other zombies. Remind us to cancel our vaction reservation on that island, by the way.... [via Game Informer]
