Bioware is known for introducing romantic options into their games and the Mass Effect series is a prime example of that. The devs for Mass Effect 3 have stated that while there are no new characters being introduced as romantic options, your frisky choices from the first two games can lead to some interesting scenarios. So if you romanced Ashley in the first game and then dropped her like day-old meat for Miranda in the second, things could get pretty dicey for the Commander. Another twist is the sudden inclusion of same-sex romance options.
