Apple MacBooks Crush Competition In 'Consumer Reports' Laptop Ratings

Consumer Reports gives the MacBook line its seal of approval.

Despite refusing to recommend the iPhone 4, Consumer Reports have given Apple's MacBook laptop line its seal of approval. When added to its online database, the newest members of the MacBook line dominated each size category in the laptop computers ratings. 

Unless you're a paying CR subscriber, you won't be able to see the ratings, so we'll just tell you how it went down. 

  • The 11-inch MacBook Air scored a 62 out of 100 points, with a Gateway model coming in second with 52 points. 
  • The 13-inch MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pros notched between 67 (Macbook Pro) and 76 points (MacBook Air), pinning them both in the category's top spot. 
  • The 15-inch MacBook Pro took first, second, and third place in its field with scores of 78,77, and 76. The Dell XPS 15 came in second. 
  • The 17-inch MacBook Pro took first and second place in the 17-to18-inch category with 81 and 80 points, beating HP's Pavilion which came in a close third with 79 points.
