Fetty Wap has become known for making upbeat, accessible hit songs, but with his latest release, he opens up and gets serious. Fetty explains that growing up, he hated school and dreaded waking up every morning. “My eye made it more of a struggle,” he writes in an open letter to fans. “When you’re different from everyone else, people, especially kids, remind you of that every day. Kids didn’t really rock with me like that.”
Always one to stay positive, Fetty says that he ended up dropping out of school, but that he found his own motivation and ended up being successful because of it. “Everybody has to find what moves them personally to be successful,” Fetty says. “I can tell you from experience that if you really put your heart and effort into achieving your goals, you won’t walk away empty handed. You’ll make it.”
