A steady hand when it comes to guest verses and hooks, adding a smooth finish to recent hits by M1llionz, MIST and Fredo, it’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Lotto Ash on a solo cut, but the wait is over because he’s just dropped off his new single, “Give You”.
The smooth and refined new ballad gets right to the heart of what Ash is about and feels like a mission statement or a promise of what’s to come. Slight touches of the Afroswing-R&B hybrid he perfected can still be heard in the vocal runs, but for this one he’s kept the arrangement restrained and delicate throughout.
Directed by Chris Chance, the video keeps things equally minimal with the spotlight kept largely on Ash and the focus of his affections. As the track swells to incorporate a few synth pads and a gentle beat, he switches from the tux to a more relaxed fit as he figuratively and literally gives his love her flowers.
Speaking on what inspired the new track, Ash shares: “‘Give You’ is not just a song to me, it’s very much a real-life story that started a whole new journey for me, so coming back with this song means more than anyone would ever know. Going forward in this new journey, I want to reintroduce myself as naturally and organically as possible. Big things are coming, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
