September is getting off to a great start. Lil Baby is back with his latest single “Detox.” In preparation for her upcoming album, age/sex/location, Ari Lennox teamed up with Summer Walker for their soulful track “Queen Space.” And Yeat brought the energy with his new single “Talk.” This week’s list also includes new music from Pi’erre Boure, Freddie Gibbs, EST Gee, and many more.

Lil Baby, “Detox”

“Detox” is a dizzying, bar-heavy track in which Lil Baby raps about his fast-paced, rockstar way of life. On the song, the Atlanta rapper spits about needing to take a break from his lifestyle. “I ain’t tryna see her, I’ma detox for the next few days/She like me, ‘cause I’m G, buy her Givenchy/Every time you look up, I be doin’ somethin’ else, yeah, that’s me,” he raps on the chorus. “Detox” is the latest release in a string of singles the artist dropped this year. The track also follows the debut of his documentary Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby on Amazon Prime.

Yeat is here with his new single. “Talk” is a rambunctious and cocky track that finds the rage artist flexing his luxurious lifestyle and newfound fame. On the track he raps, “Headin’ number one up on these charts, bitch, yeah, it’s stuck or what?/A-a-all we do is just go number one/And I just brought in some M’s, lil’ bitch, it’s the first of the month.” “Talk” was originally previewed in June and almost immediately went viral on TikTok, yet-again proving Yeat’s growing star power. 

Ari Lennox & Summer Walker, “Queen Space”

In the lead up to her album, Ari Lennox surprised fans with a new single “Queen Space.” The track is in collaboration with Summer Walker, and finds the soul duo laying down harmonious vocals as they sing about preserving their energy and space. “So don’t waste my queen space/True elevation, when I let you taste/Let it rearrange the way you think/True elevation, when I let you taste,” Ari Lennox sings on the chorus over a smooth beat. Summer Walker jumps in on the second verse with softer vocals singing, “If you’re missin’ me then just say somethin’/But I don’t wanna tell you what to feel.” “Queen Space” was released ahead of Lennox’s forthcoming album, age/sex/location, dropping September 9. 

Pi’erre Bourne f/ Young Nudy, “Moving Too Fast”

Pi’erre Bourne tapped Young Nudy for his new track, “Moving Too Fast,” a mid-tempo record with a triumphant beat. On the track, Pi’erre and Nudy join forces on the chorus as they chant, “I hop in the booth with my gym shoes, I’m bout to run me a lap.” Elsewhere on the track, the duo trade verses about money and women. “Ballin’ like the fantasy league, you won’t bet with us/I need like, two, three freaks that play ‘round with cuffs,” Bourne spits. “Moving Too Fast” is a standout from Pi’erre Bourne’s latest project, Good Movie

Freddie Gibbs f/ Moneybagg Yo, “Too Much”

Freddie Gibbs is back, and he tapped Moneybagg Yo for his new single. “Too Much” is a gritty track that finds the two rappers trading bars over a hard-hitting trap beat. On the song, Freddie Gibbs lays down a dizzying chorus before spinning into a fast verse about jet-setting from city to city. “Backstage at the shows, thesе hoes gon’ choose up/ ATL to thе Chi’, these hoes get flewed up/ Michael Jackson, might go Tyson, know a nigga gotta beat it,” he spits. Moneybagg Yo matches Gibbs’ energy with a razor sharp verse, spitting, “I get two hundred a verse and two hundred for a show/I need four hundred a O if I’m breakin’ down the bowl.” “Too Much” is expected to appear on Freddie Gibbs next studio album. 

EST Gee, “Hell”

“Hell” is a gritty track from EST Gee that finds the Louisville rapper putting it all out there. On the track, EST Gee delivers heartfelt vocals as he raps about his lethal lifestyle. “Any man that said they want me dead, I put a missile in/If my beef had chickens, still’ll bite it off a gristle then,” he spits over a mid-tempo beat. “Hell” is expected to appear on EST Gee’s upcoming project, and follows the summer releases of “Blood” and “Love Is Blind.” 

DJ Drama & Jeezy, “I Ain’t Gone Hold Ya”

DJ Drama and Jeezy have reunited on their new collaboration, “I Ain’t Gone Hold Ya,” an uptempo, classic rap track that finds Jeezy in his bag as he lays down a lengthy verse about getting it out the mud and hustling to become a business mogul. “Talkin’ to a street nigga, yeah, I turned real estate mogul, ain’t no tellin’ what I paid for them acres/All about that paper/Never been no hater in my nature,” he raps. “I Ain’t Gone Hold Ya” is a smooth record that will resonate with both new and veteran hip-hop fans.

Smino is back. His new track, “24-8,” is a slick and soulful record produced by Phoelix. On the track, Smino delivers silky vocals and nimble flows over a whistling beat. “I use my blunt light to guide me through the dark nights/Batman coupe, ridin’ to the stu’, my partner pour the dark Sprite/ ‘Methazine, he told me that he wanna see me on magazines,” he raps with his signature St. Louis drawl. “24-8” is Smino’s first solo release of 2022, and potentially marks the rollout of his first project since 2020’s She Already Decided

Quando Rondo and NBA YoungBoy teamed up for their new single, “Give Me A Sign,” a heartfelt and vulnerable song that finds the duo asking for mercy and looking for signal from God on their paths to redemption. “I say, ‘Lord, give me a sign’/Show mercy, when it’s time/Between the feds and the bitch niggas want me dead,” Quando sings. NBA YoungBoy jumps on the second verse to sing about his street lifestyle, house arrest, and fighting demons. “Try hard not to lose my mind/Tryna find a way, just me and my guys,” he spits. “Blackball and wanna see us down ‘cause Timm get dirty with that iron.” 

Kenny Beats f/ slowthai, “Family Tree”

“Family Tree” is a cool and breezy track from Kenny Beats that has a surprisingly harsh message. The track, created in collaboration with slowthai, throws shade on all the family members of a past love interest. “So, fuck your mother/Your brother/Your sister and your dad/‘Cause once I go home, I go home, and there ain’t no turnin’ back,” slowthai sings with distorted and resentful vocals. The track comes from Kenny Beats’ newly-released project, Louie, which also features appearances from Pink Siifu, Omar Apollo, and more.
