CASISDEAD has officially confirmed his debut album, Famous Last Words, is complete and is due to arrive October 27 via XL Recordings.

Alongside the news came a new single, “Matte Grey Wrap”, which features LA-based dream-pop outfit Desire. Like a lot of CASISDEAD’s recent material, “Matte Grey Wrap” continues to play with that contrast of bleak, stony-faced lyricism against a dreamy synth-pop sheen.

On Spotify, the track has been grouped together with recent singles, “Boys Will Be Boys”, “Traction Control”, “Park Assist”, and slightly older fan favourites “Before This” with LATER and “Pat Earrings”, which seems to at least suggest that all five tracks will also be on the album.

Whatever the new album has in store for us, a debut album, or indeed any full-length project has been something CAS fans have long hoped for. Cult favourite The Number 23 was released back in 2014 and Commercial 2 was in 2015, and that was only available as a limited run of cassettes. On that note, it was also announced that The Number 23 will be released on vinyl for the first time and that pre-orders are now online.

According to the information released so far, Famous Last Words promises to be “as much a sci-fi film as it is a rap record”, and the 23-strong tracklist is filled with references to science fiction classics with titles like “Sarah Connor” and “Venom”, as well as cameos from actors Ed Skrein and Emma Rigby. Alongside the LATER and Desire features, the announcement also confirms collabs with Connie Constance, Kamio, and none other than Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant.

Pre-orders have already hit the internet, offering fans bundles that include various combinations of vinyl, cassette, digital, apparel, and tickets to catch CAS when he performs live at KOKO on November 2. This will follow three Rough Trade in-store shows at Nottingham (Oct. 29), Bristol (Oct. 30), and Rough Trade East (Oct. 31).
