Roddy Ricch is back in his bag. “Blue Cheese” is a thrilling record that finds Roddy Ricch effortlessly floating over Sonic and Alek Beats co-production. What’s most memorable about the record is Roddy’s buoyant flow that sometimes switches up, but never loses pace. Even the “Hoo-Hoo” adlibs that Roddy spits in between each line is fun to say. “Blue Cheese” appears on Roddy’s latest mixtape Feed That Streets III. Some listeners will agree that Roddy was losing some momentum after his debut album dropped in 2019. But with the release of this new project, Roddy is proving that he’s not done just yet.

Pharrell & Travis Scott, “Down In Atlanta”

Pharrell is back and he’s recruited Travis Scott to hop on the track with him. On “Down In Atlanta,” Pharrell stays behind the scenes, lending his ear and style to the production. Meanwhile, Travis Scott takes front and center, rapping over a funky, retro beat. He provides a catchy auto-tuned chorus before jumping into three brief verses about riding through ATL. “Down in Atlanta/Just like Havana/Gotta get it on, gotta get it on/Gotta get it on, gotta get it on,” he sings on the final verse. “Down In Atlanta” is rumored to be on Pharrell’s forthcoming compilation album.

Don Toliver, “Do It Right”

Don Toliver is back with “Do It Right,” a catchy tune that interpolates The S.O.S. Band’s  1980 hit, “Take Your Time (Do It Right).” On the track, Don Toliver puts his own spin and flare on the chorus, adding soft vocals and warped background vocals. What’s especially memorable about the track is the beat, courtesy of Jahaan Sweet, that switches up several times throughout the song. Despite the beat changes, the song doesn’t sound like it is four different records spliced together. Instead, the transitions are seamless and all complement Don’s sound. “Do It Right” is a catchy and fun record that is expected to appear on Don Toliver’s next project.

Chance the Rapper f/ King Promise, “Yah Know”

Chance the Rapper just dropped “Yah Know,” an upbeat and funky record that finds the Chicago rapper borrowing inspiration from Afrobeats. At first, it sounds like Chance is trying to rap with some type of accent, but after awhile he switches up and returns to his regular flows. The track also features Ghanian singer King Promise, who is first heard on the song’s intro. On “Yah Know,” Chance the Rapper’s delivery over the vibrant beat is entertaining and would lead many to assume that the “Old Chano”’ is back.

Key Glock, “Thumbing”

Key Glock just dropped off his 4-track EP, PRE5L, featuring the standout track “Thumbing.” The track is a jazzy record thanks to a beat that’s anchored in horns, but it still holds onto some of that rambunctious energy that Key Glock is known for. On the track, Key Glock raps effortlessly about his endless cashflow while delivering a hard-hitting and cool flow. “Thumbing” might be the standout on this EP at the moment, but the project as a whole goes hard and is worth a few spins this weekend and beyond.

Babyface Ray f/ Blxst & Nija, “Spend It”

Babyface Ray, Blxst and Nija teamed up on their new collaboration, “Spend It,” a soulful record that mixes R&B and rap. On the track, Ninja delivers a sultry chorus calling for her partner to spend a couple bands on her. Babyface Ray slides on the trap beat, rapping directly to his partner, “Let’s go spend some time in Chanel/Get your hair done and go paint all your nails.” Blxst also brought his energy to the track’s second verse as he sings about copping a Rolex for his lover. “Spend It” is a smooth and romantic record from Babyface Ray that will likely be a hit amongst women listeners.

BROCKHAMPTON, “The Ending”

“The Ending” is a soulful song that finds the band’s front man Kevin Abstract taking the lead. On the track, Kevin Abstract is the only one to provide his vocals as he raps over a smooth sample of Willie Hutch’s 1976 single “Let Me Be The One.” The brief track finds the rapper reminiscing about moving to Los Angeles, exploring his sexuality, and more. “This the most corrupted vision/ I turned my friendship into a business into an empire,” he spits. The record isn’t quite as hype as some of the songs in which the entire group jumps on it, but it’s still entertaining. “The Ending” appears on Brockhampton’s final album as a group, The Family

Rod Wave, “Love Overdose”

Rod Wave is back with another anthem for the lovesick listeners out there. “Love Overdose” is just what you think it’s about. On the track, Rod Wave is heartbroken as he reflects on a broken relationship. He’s so hurt, in fact, that he tries to drown the pain with drugs and other vices. Rod Wave’s music isn’t for those sunny days, but he’s definitely someone you want to listen to when you’re going through any type of pain, especially when it comes to love. “Love Overdose” appears on his new EP, Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory

Harry Fraud & 38 Spesh f/ Stove God Cooks, “Speshal”

Harry Fraud and 38 Spesh teamed up for a new joint project called Beyond Belief. On their most memorable record, “Speshal,” they recruited Stove God Cooks to jump on the track with them. Over a retro futuristic beat, courtesy of Harry Fraud, 38 Spesh leads off with a pure rap flow about his street activity. “Use your head or get hit in the back of it/Trust me, when I’m aimin’ this hammer, I’m quite accurate,” he spits. Stove God Cooks then slides on the beat, rapping, “Coke rappers and phone taps and all that hot shit.”

On the track, SSGKobe flexes his style, delivering a slick flow and braggadocious raps about his fashion style, fame, and wealth. “I got diamonds, my wrist, and they biting,” he brags. “Wave” is definitely a club record that you expect to hear as people stand around in a booth flaunting their flashy accessories.

“Blitz” is a dizzying record that finds rapper Destroy Lonely running through fun and razor sharp verses over a dark and sinister beat. On the track, Destroy Lonely spits about heavy drug use, women, and late nights. “I’m on the blitz, no, I’m on shit/I got some codeine all in my piss,” he spits. The track isn’t quite a moshpit record, but it will undoubtedly sound even better in a live setting. Destroy Lonely is the latest signee to Playboi Carti’s Opium record label. “Blitz” appears on the deluxe edition of his project Ns+ (Ultra)

Fousheé f/ Lil Uzi Vert, “Spend That Money”

Fousheé tapped Lil Uzi Vert for “Spend That Money,” an out-of-this-world and futuristic song that finds Fousheé laying down delicate vocals over an experimental beat, produced by Miguel Angeles. On the track, Fousheé sings about her desire to have money rather than love. “It's in a safe but it should be in my purse/Don't say you love me, it eventually just hurts,” she sings. The gentle texture of her voice works well with the harshness of the beat. Lil Uzi Vert is a fitting collaborator for the record, floating over the track with melodramatic bars. “Spend That Money” is from Fousheé’s new project softCORE.

Kash Paige, “Awesome”

“Awesome” is a new track from Kaash Paige that finds the Dallas artist singing and rapping over a triumphant Supah Mario beat. On the chorus, Kaash raps about turning up with alcohol and other party favors. She saves the verses to flex her vocals as she brags about her fast cars and diamond jewelry. “Awesome” is a fun record to perfectly encapsulates a late-night out on the town. The song appears on Kaash Paige’s latest, S2ML.
