Justin Vernon's latest project is a collaboration with TU Dance, a Minnesota-based performance group led by Uri Sands. The two have joined forces for Come Through, a piece soundtracked by new, original music by Vernon. The show went live last month, and clips are finding their way online. The YouTube clip above is the most exciting—Vernon's music is some of the most percussive, active work we've ever heard from him.

He's going deeper down the rabbit hole first explored on 22, A Million, and the addition of dancers seems to have expanded his sonic work in new and exciting ways—the song that starts around the 5:00 mark, called "I Can Hear Crying" by some fans in attendance, is especially excellent.

Vernon is also continuing to work with rappers. This time he tapped Minnesota local Allan Kingdom for a verse, which starts halfway through this clip:

But regardless of the features, it's exciting to see one of music's most accomplished artists continue to push himself in new directions. There's no release date for this new music, and last week's performances of Come Through were the only ones scheduled. Here's hoping we'll be able to hear Vernon's new music at some point—it sounds excellent. And seeing as he's already in the habit of performing unreleased music, maybe it's only a matter of time.
