Eminem made an impromptu appearance on DJ Whoo Kid's radio show on Shade 45, and he spoke about recording with Kendrick Lamar for "Love Game." According to Em, the collaboration took place about a week or two before Kendrick's verse on "Control" came out. Em had already been a fan of Kendrick's from good kid m.A.A.d. city, but added that he felt that the controversy from what is perhaps the verse of the year took his stature to another level. As for "Love Song," Em said that he wanted to record something with Kendrick that people might not have been expecting.
Em also spoke about working with Rihanna for "The Monster" and the overall process of recording with Rick Rubin. He talked about being a big fan of the sampling that Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys had done on their albums back in the day, and starting to experiment with that style as he was working on Slaughterhouse's last album, Welcome to Our House. Em also added that he remained loyal to Dr. Dre, who co-executive produced the Marshall Mathers LP 2 alongside Rubin; however, Em's "change ran out" as Whoo Kid was going to ask about the status of Detox.
