It’s gonna be May! So what better time to have the *NSYNC crew reunite and receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Members Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick each spoke during the ceremony on Monday to share how the late '90s/early 2000s boy band changed their lives.

"Growing up in Mississippi, in a Southern Baptist church, in a town where everyone knows your business, I had a secret—I was gay," Bass shared, explaining how the group’s fans inspired him to come out later in his life. "At the time, I thought I'd never be able to tell anyone... so many nights onstage, I'd see young gay fans singing their hearts out, and I wanted so badly to let you [know that] I was you. I just didn't have the strength then."

To lighten the mood, Fatone made a crack at the viral meme that stems from their 2000 hit “It’s Gonna Be Me.”

“It’s gonna be May!” he exclaimed, while also joking, “You can also see me performing at Chuck E. Cheese's next week."

Chasez also put a spotlight on other people who made the group so successful, including the late writer and producer Robin Wiley. “'*NSYNC is made up of an apostrophe and five letters," he said. "Robin Wiley: I always looked at her as the apostrophe in the band."

After the various speeches, fans began spontaneously singing the band’s 1997 Top 40 hit "Tearin' Up My Heart.”

“It will be a special moment,” Bass told Variety before the ceremony. “Everyone we’ve worked with—every choreographer, every record person, our families, our friends and our fans—that star ceremony is honoring.”
