Time Magazine's current cover features a photo of a Baltimore protester running from police that could easily be from 1968 if it weren't for the modern clothing. "What has changed, what hasn't" is the tagline—and that same idea is explored in this Jazmine Sullivan cover of Nina Simone's "Baltimore."
In honor of the #BlackSpring movement, the cover's accompanying video features footage from both the 1968 and 2015 protests in Baltimore. It opens up with an interview clip with Simone herself. "I choose to reflect the times and the situations in which I find myself," she says. "That, to me, is my duty. At this crucial times in our lives—when everything is so desperate, when everyday is a matter of survival—I don't think you can help but be involved."
Watch the video above, and look out for What Happened, Miss Simone? to hit Netflix June 26.
