There's definitely a case to be made that Kanye West is one of—if not the—most influential rapper ever. At the very least, he's right up there with Rakim, Biggie, and Jay-Z for his exceeding influence on the current crop of rappers. Everyone from A$AP Rocky to Drake to J. Cole and so many more seem to have taken a page or two out of the Kanye playbook.

But it turns out, Yeezy's influence is beyond just the sphere of hip-hop. In an interview with Spin, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' frontwoman Karen O revealed Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is a big influence on their upcoming album, Mosquito.

Karen O was quoted saying:

“It’s so soulful, and I love soul. The vibe lifted me out of the mundane and took me somewhere else, man. And it stuck out like a sore thumb. It’s a work of art. It’s a record. It was a moment of clarity. His signal was crystal clear and we all got it. One of the last records that made me feel that way was Under Construction by Missy Elliott.”

Yeezy taught me indeed.

Too bad 'Ye couldn't inspire them enough to get better cover art for Mosquito
