The cosmos may not be particularly fortuitous right now, but they sure are putting on a show for us. Some Arizona residents near Phoenix awoke to a loud boom and a flash of light at around 3:48 a.m. local time Thursday morning, according to 12news.com. Josh Bangle, a representative from the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, told Complex it's not clear whether this was the result of a meteor streaking across the sky or space junk, which is basically just trash that orbits the Earth. But whatever it was, witnesses say the look and sound of it was very striking. They have used social media to describe it as colorful, bright, loud, and even "on fire":
