A school trustee from Red Deer, Alberta, claims the "Holy Spirit" influenced her to make a post comparing the LGBTQ+ community with Nazi Germany.

"Do it, go for it," Monique LaGrange says the "Holy Spirit" told her, according to CTV News.

In late August, LaGrange posted a picture of children parading flags with swastikas on them adjacent to another photo of children waving pride flags. She captioned the photo, "brainwashing is brainwashing."

The board of trustees for the Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools determined that LaGrange was in violation of its policies and told her to apologize for her post and take sensitivity training.

LaGrange's lawyer James Kitchen insists she is "a normal Bible-believing Christian, who when she's considering something prays about it."

Kitchen also added that LaGrange would not apologize. "That would violate her conscience," he said. "She can't do that. That would be a sin."

Murray Hollman, the board's chair, confirmed LaGrange's lack of apology and said that he is waiting to see if she applies for a judicial review before the board moves further.

"She does not represent our board's views on these items. This is her own personal view," Hollman said.
