A French man who made false reports of a hostage situation in Ubisoft's Montreal offices back in 2020 will serve a three-year sentence for his actions.

According to The Montreal Gazette, Yanni Ouahioune was sentenced on Monday that covered three individual criminal cases spanning from 2020 to 2022.

As well, Ouahioune must compensate the victims, seek treatment for mental health problems, and has the choice to either work or get training. The publication also claims that Ouahioune has been receiving psychological treatment for years leading up to the first crime.

Ouahioune had allegedly made the calls because he got banned from Ubisoft's popular shooter Rainbow Six Siege more than once. The Montreal Gazette explains that he used a computer in his parents' house to route the calls through servers in Russia.

The 22-year-old faced other charges including a denial of service attack on a government office and threats against Mojang Studios, the creators of Minecraft.
