North Carolina Firebombing

The North Carolina headquarters for the GOP was fire-bombed over the weekend, and now Democrats have raised more than $13,000 to assist with the reopening of the building. The Charlotte Observer reported on Sunday that there were no injuries in the bombing.

According to the Charlotte Observer, local police determined that someone bombed the building with a Molotov cocktail, resulting in major damage to the building. The prhase "Nazi Republicans get out of town or else" was painted on the building along with a swastika. Now some Democrats, eager to assist their opposition in North Carolina, have started a GoFundMe page for the Republican headquarters.

Part of the description on the page read, "As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina Republican office to re-open as soon as possible," and it has raised $3,000 over the goal of $10,000 since Sunday.

But some on the left are critical of the GoFundMe initiative and have expressed their concerns and objections on Twitter:

Wait...you gave money to a group that is, as you said, anti-trans, anti-black in hopes they change? What kind of thought process? https://t.co/zLxbKnloi4

You guys are sitting here donating money to an organization that is supposedly against all your beliefs and calling that pragmatism.

That (insured btw) building is not going to get rebuilt in the next few weeks, prior to the election. That $13,000 could've gone elsewhere.

This is one of the GoFundMe organizers. I guess folks who have their votes suppressed by the NC GOP will continue to "thirst for democracy." https://t.co/mU9FvgvqAD

Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have condemned the bombing of the headquarters (Trump blamed "animals representing Cinton"), but neither have publicly commented on the GoFundMe.
