On Thursday, Brooke Windsor took to Twitter to announce the man and child in the photo have been located. Windsor said she has communicated with the family, who asked to remain anonymous.
"The photo has reached the dad & family," she tweeted. He has chosen to remain anonymous in the wake of tragedy, and writes: “Thanks again for that beautiful photo, we will find a special place for it.” Thank you to everyone who has shared the picture and for your kind words."

A photo taken outside Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris has ignited a worldwide search.Â
The picture, captured by Twitter user Brooke Windsor, was reportedly taken Monday evening just an hour before the historic landmark was engulfed in flames. The photo shows what appears to be a father and daughter happily playing together in front of Notre-Dame. Windsor shared the image on social media Monday, asking others to help her locate the man and child in the photo.
"Twitter, if you have any magic, help him find this," she wrote.
Windsor said she snapped the image at 5:57 p.m. local time, and was focusing on capturing the building rather than the pair. She also clarified she was uncertain they were father and daughter, as many have assumed.Â
"I do not know for sure if it was a dad and daughter, it’s simply the dynamic I observed from them while debating on interrupting this moment," she tweeted. "It may be an uncle, brother, friend, who knows until we find them."
As of Tuesday afternoon, Windsor's post had garnered over 308,000 likes and more than 150,000 retweets. Windsor's most recent message—shared early Tuesday morning, states the man and child have yet to be identified.
On Monday evening, a fire ripped through the 856-year-old building, causing severe damage to its roof. French authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze, but sources said they believe it was related to renovations being done at Notre-Dame.Â
