A Chrome extension is promising "the return of the likes" after Instagram started widely rolling out a new likes-hiding feature.

While the hidden count era of Instagram is presumably causing no major headaches for the average individual, this new extension—spotted by The Daily Dot this week—simply requires in-browser log-in and viewing for proper functioning.

In a statement to Forbes, plug-in creator and Socialinsider co-founder Andrei Serbanoiu said the effort was designed to help brands remain "aware of what the competition is doing, to make sure they don't fall behind."

Just make sure your Chrome browser is updated, download the extension, and approve the ensuing pop-up window to begin meticulously tallying likes again. For more info on the extension, click here.

Starting today, we’re expanding our test of private like counts globally. If you’re in the test, you’ll no longer see the total number of likes and views on photos and videos posted to Feed unless they’re your own. pic.twitter.com/DztSH0xiq2

An Instagram rep said over the summer that the hidden likes move was being tested because the company wants "your followers to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get." Additionally, the rep said, the IG team is "looking forward to learning more about how this change might benefit everyone’s experience" on the platform.
