11 out of 12 convicts had a very, very short taste of freedom on Sunday night when they busted out of Jasper, Alabama's Walker County Jail. Unfortunately—for them, not the public—they were sent back to their concrete cages after less than 24 hours on the loose. Of the cons, all of whom were between the ages of 18 and 30, six were captured "shortly" after they ditched imprisonment, while the other five were caught sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.
However, as you likely concluded through rigorous calculations, one inmate is still on the run. That inmate is Brady Andrew Kilpatrick, a 24-year-old man who was jailed for "alleged drug offenses":
According to a sheriff's office statement, in addition to Jasper Police Department personnel, off-duty cops have also taken part in the manhunt. In case you're wondering (which you're probably not if you don't live in the area), Jasper lies about 35 miles northwest of Birmingham.
Two of the dozen escapees had been sent to jail for alleged attempted murder. The others had been charged with a variety of crimes, including: burglary, theft, drug charges, domestic violence, breaking and entering, and disorderly conduct. A $500 reward was offered to any person who could give information leading to an arrest.
As of now, it's unclear how the 12 men escaped. But that's the type of thing police, you know, investigate. So you can expect that info to surface eventually.
