Washington Redskins Don't Completely Suck, Push Philadelphia Eagles to Brink of Elimination

The Washington Redskins didn't suck, and put the Philadelphia Eagles on the brink of elimination

The Washington Redskins are having about as dismal and dysfunctional an NFL season as you can have. Jay Gruden and RG3 have been bickering like an old married couple, Colt McCoy made an appearance, and everyone was super sad. But for the first time in what seems like years, the 'Skins looked like an actual football team capable of doing football things, like throwing, catching, running and other fun stuff.

With the Philadelphia Eagles in town, and Chip Kelly's squad needing a win to avoid having to pray for a Dallas Cowboys loss to stay in the playoff hunt, Washington looked like the team with a sense of urgency. Robert Griffin didn't look like he belonged in Pop Warner (though he did throw an atrocious interception into double coverage), which doesn't sound like a compliment but it really, really is, and he even learned how to slide so he didn't get turned into a pile of dust on live television. DeSean Jackson had 126 receiving yards because he's playing his old team and felt like trying, and the team has three rushing touchdowns after racking up just 11 all year.

The Eagles didn't help themselves at all, collecting a ton of penalties and watching kicker Cody Parker miss two very makable field goals. When you're playing so poorly that Redskins owner is fist pumping like a high school girl who just made out with a boy under the bleachers for the first time, it's time to re-evaluate things.

Mark Sanchez went full Sanchez in the fourth quarter, tossing a crucial interception with the game tied at 24 that would lead to the Redskins kicking the winning field goal with five seconds remaining. The lasting image of the game will forever be Redskins running back Darrel Young getting in the grill of some Eagles fan sitting in the end zone after his first rushing touchdown of the night.

Or DeSean Jackson being DeSean Jackson. The Eagles take the L all around tonight.
