Watch Jay Z Tell Jay Electronica: 'Let's Put This Album Out'

A recent video indicates Jay Z wants Jay Electronica's long-awaited Roc Nation album to drop as bad as you do.

Jay Electronica’s “Ghost of Christopher Wallace” was officially released to retail nearly eight years ago. If you’ve been impatiently waiting for some new material, you’re not alone. Jay Electronica was spotted with Jay Z during NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, and Hov took the microphone following Jay Electronica’s concert at Preservation Hall. After some playful prodding from Jay Electronica and a subsequent friendly exchange, Jay Z proceeded to tell his artist what fans have been demanding for years.

“Let’s put this album out,” Jay Z said.

Jay Z signed Jay Electronica to his Roc Nation imprint in 2010 as part of a star-studded event. He praised the New Orleans MC and stated his goal to help “reintroduce magic back into hip-hop.” The years that followed have brought high-profile appearances—such as Jay Electronica bringing Jay Z out at the 2014 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival—but no album.

With or without a retail project, the relationship between the two appears solid. The video also featured Jay Electronica telling the crowd about Jay Z’s recent purchase of a nearby church, which drew laughter from the crowd. The Roc Nation founder also had jokes about being put on the spot and being asked to address the crowd.

“I’m gonna fuck you up outside for that,” Jay Z joked, again drawing laughs from the assembled crowd.
