The lawsuit against Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been quietly dropped after a notice of voluntary dismissal was filed, Bloomberg reports.

Ronaldo publicly denied the allegations made by Kathryn Mayorga that he sexually assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.

The case saw a number of the Portuguese star's brand endorsements, including Nike and EA Sports, voice concerns over the allegations. The headlines also affected the Italian club’s share price, dropping 15%.

Not stipulating as to whether the case was settled out of court, the decisions within the court are unknown to the general public.

Signing to the Italian team last season in one of the biggest moves of the summer, the Champions League-winner was sold for a fee of €112million, and signed on a four-year deal. The Serie A league clear-cut champions failed to get past Ajax in the Champions league quarter finals.

UPDATE

The venue for the lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo has moved from Nevada state court to federal court, after her attorney confirmed that identical charges against the footballer were filed following the difficulty of serving Ronaldo with notice of the state lawsuit, due to him residing in Italy.
