Canadian hockey Youtuber Steve 'Dangle' Glynn is stepping away from Sportsnet as he changes his focus to SDPN Inc., an independent sports outlet he launched with co-founders Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake.

In a YouTube video posted this morning, Dangle explains his decision to leave Sportsnet. "I'm betting on us," he said.

"[...] The more time went on I'm like I really doing this [work at Sportsnet], but I wouldn't mind doing my own things, and then you do your own thing, and you increase your own thing and you improve your own thing and all of a sudden you wish all your time could be dedicated to that own thing," Dangle said, referencing SDPN.

Dangle had been with Sportsnet for nine seasons.

Though SDPN is still in its infancy, the media outlet employs over 20 contractors and "something like half a dozen" full-time employees and Dangle hopes to increase the number.

Dangle says he's excited to be hiring people in an industry that is quick to lay off employees with no warning.

The aforementioned Wylde left his job at a radio station to work at SDPN full-time while Blake had left his job years ago to focus on their new venture.

The NHL season is currently in the Stanley Cup Finals, with the Vegas Golden Knights leading the Florida Panthers 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.
