Much like the Dallas Cowboys—who are enjoying their bye week right now—we were going to take this week off when it came time to put together the "10 Sports People Who Had a Worse Week Than You" list. We were still going to post a list today, just as we've been doing every Sunday for the last month or so. But rather than go through each and every sport to find people who had crappy weeks, we were just going to list 10 members of the Cowboys and call it a day. Because the last week has been rough for the 'Boys. Despite the fact that they're 5-5 and sitting atop the NFC East, their defense got shredded during their loss to the New Orleans Saints last Sunday night, and the thought is that they're still not ready to make a serious playoff run with the defense that they've got in place right now. And to make matters even worse, their former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is doing a helluva job with the Saints this season. So it sucks to be a Dallas Cowboy this week.
The Cowboys coaches and players aren't the only people involved in the world of sports who had bad weeks, though. Believe it or not, there are actually quite a few sports people out there who had worse weeks than Jerry Jones & Co. So while we very easily could have made our entire "Worse Week" list about the Cowboys today, we didn't. Instead, we put together a brand new list of the 10 Sports People Who Had a Worse Week Than You. It'll help you—and the Cowboys!—to feel better today.

Every player on the New Zealand national soccer team
Date: 11/13/2013
So much for Mexico not making the World Cup! In the first leg of a World Cup qualifying playoff in Mexico City, Mexico completely dominated New Zealand in every single facet of the match and won 5-1. The second leg of the playoff will take place this week. But what's the point? It's pretty clear that New Zealand has no chance of upsetting Mexico now and will not qualify for the 2014 World Cup. Meanwhile, America is still waiting for a thank you card from Mexico.
Joey Crawford
Date: 11/13/2013
NBA fans have known that Crawford is a jerk for years now. But the NBA referee proved it once again this week by yelling at a young kid who was in charge of mopping up a wet spot on the court during a Cavaliers/76ers game. When the kid didn't do a good enough job in Crawford's eyes, Crawford yelled at him and then called a couple of other kids over to finish the job. He also stared the kid down the entire time and let him know that he didn't appreciate the effort he had given. The hate Joey received on the Internet was very real and very necessary.
Al Trautwig
Date: 11/14/2013
Twitter trolls are a problem for a lot of people involved in the world of sports. But most sports personalities simply ignore or block them when they become a nuisance. Not Trautwig! After the MSG Network commentator received a series of insults from an Islanders fan on Twitter this week, Trautwig took it upon himself to find the man's phone number and call him. The only problem? The number that he found was actually the number for the man's mother. So Trautwig ended up yelling at her about her son's behavior and looked like a total jackass when the man called him out for it on Twitter. That'll (hopefully!) be the last time he tries to teach a troll a lesson by doing that.
DeAndre Hopkins
Date: 11/13/2013
Anytime you have to issue a statement that features the words, "It's not my genitals," you know you're having a bad week. And that's exactly what Hopkins had to do this week after a photo of a man holding his penis was posted to his Instagram. His girlfriend took to his Twitter account a short time after the photo was posted and claimed that the Texans wide receiver's Instagram had been hacked. But Hopkins had to come out later that day and make his "not my genitals" statement in order to get reporters and bloggers off his back. He has promised to make his Instagram password more creative in the future.
6. Whoever runs the Toronto Argonauts' Twitter account
Date: 11/15/2013
Earlier this week, Toronto mayor Rob Ford held a live press conference in front of a group of reporters and addressed a bunch of allegations that have been made against him in recent months. One of those allegations insinuated that Ford once told a female staffer that he wanted to do some very, very, very bad things to her. Ford shot down that allegation during his press conference and did so while wearing an Argonauts jersey that said "MAYOR FORD" across the back of it.
So the person in charge of the Argonauts' Twitter account had to put in some OT to send out a bunch of tweets distancing the team from Ford's comments. "The latest remarks, while wearing our team's jersey," one tweet said, "are particularly disappointing given our organization's work in the community to help youth deal with issues of bullying prevention." It was an awkward situation for everyone involved.
Dwayne Bowe
Date: 11/10/2013
The Chiefs are 9-0 right now and haven't had much go wrong for them so far this season. But that trend came to an abrupt end last weekend when Bowe was pulled over for speeding and police found more than 10 grams of marijuana inside of his car. He will play today when the Chiefs go to Denver to take on the Broncos. But he has a court date on Dec. 18 and will likely face some form of punishment from the NFL sometime in the near future.
Sam Hurd
Date: 11/13/2013
The former Cowboys/Bears wide receiver got some good news and some bad news when he was sentenced to prison for his role in a cocaine distribution case back in 2011. The good news? Hurd isn't going to spend the rest of his life behind bars for allegedly trying to buy five kilos of coke from undercover federal agents. The bad news? He is going to be going away for 15 years. It could have been way worse, considering just how crazy the story behind his alleged drug-dealing is. Either way, 15 years in jail is no joke.
Lionel Messi
Date: 11/10/2013
Apparently, the only person who can slow Messi down is, well, Messi. During a Barcelona match against Real Betis last Sunday, Messi injured his left hamstring and suffered what was later described as "a torn muscle in the femoral biceps of his left leg" by Barca. That injury means that Messi is going to miss about two months of action and will miss a ton of games while he works to rehab his hammy.
Matt Barnes
Date: 11/13/2013
During a game against the Thunder on Wednesday night, Barnes came to the aid of his Clippers teammate Blake Griffin and shoved Serge Ibaka after Griffin got tangled up with him. So what did he get for his troubles? An ejection, a $25,000 fine, and a ton of criticism thanks to a tweet that he sent while he was in the locker room after getting ejected. "I love my teammates like family," he tweeted, "but I'm DONE standing up for these niggas! All this shit does is cost me money." He apologized the following day. But that doesn't negate the fact that he endured a pretty bad week as a result of his actions.
Jameis Winston
Date: 11/13/2013
The Florida State quarterback—who is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy next month—is in some hot water right now. According to multiple reports, Winston was allegedly involved in a sexual assault last December that is just now coming to light. It's still a little bit unclear what his alleged role was in the assault, but it's pretty fair to say Winston may not be the Heisman favorite for long. He also may not be the bright, cheery, positive person that everyone thought he was just a week ago. Or maybe he's that person and this is all one big misunderstanding. Either way, Winston's name got dragged through the mud this week and, fair or not, he's going to have a black cloud hanging over his head for the next few weeks, if not longer.
