A24 looks to continue its streak of widely acclaimed, uniquely moving entries with director Kelly Reichardt’s upcoming Showing Up.

Thursday, a two-minute trailer for the Michelle Williams-starring film was released, giving the world a glimpse into what to expect from this story about a sculptor met with seemingly mundane life challenges in the run-up to the opening of her new show.

Williams, whose past work with Reichardt includes Certain Women and Meek’s Cutoff, is joined in the cast by Hong Chau, Maryann Plunkett, John Magaro, André Benjamin (a.k.a. André 3000), James Le Gros, and Judd Hirsch.

See the new trailer up top, featuring a look at André 3000’s character and a deeply hilarious mini-argument between other characters regarding cheese. The film is set to debut next spring.

As fellow filmheads will note, Williams and Hirsch both appeared this year in Steven Spielberg’s beautifully personal The Fabelmans. In the film, which is loosely inspired by Spielberg’s own life, Williams plays a fictionalized version of the director’s mother. Hirsch, meanwhile, plays an uncle who gives the film’s young protagonist an intense (and scene-stealing) pep talk about the responsibilities and difficulties of the art life.

Meanwhile, Showing Up doesn’t mark the first time that André 3000 has been enlisted for an A24 project. Earlier this year, he was tapped to participate in the soundtrack proceedings behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, which now stands as A24’s biggest film ever.

Other A24-backed entries on the horizon include Jesse Eisenberg’s When You Finish Saving the World, Ari Aster’s recently retitled Beau Is Afraid, and Ti West’s MaXXXine.
