Sony teased the arrival of a handheld streaming device for the PS5 during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday.

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan, the device, referred to as Project Q, will allow users to stream previously installed PlayStation 5 games over WiFi through its Remote Play feature. Project Q may draw comparisons to the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck due to its layout, which includes an 8-inch HD screen flanked by a split PS5 DualSense controller.

Insider Gaming reported last month that a handheld device for Sony was in the works, operating under the code name "Q Lite."

Project Q is expected to be released later this year. The price has not been revealed.

Sony also hyped its PlayStation earbuds for smartphones and gaming, with more information coming soon.
