The wait is over. We finally know the true purpose behind the insanely popular picture of an egg that now holds the record for most likes on Instagram.

The @world_record_egg account, which dethroned Kylie Jenner for the record, teamed up with Hulu for a 30-second commercial that revealed the egg's purpose: spreading mental health awareness.

“I’m the world_record_egg (you may have heard of me),” the text above the crumbling egg read. “Recently I’ve started to crack. The pressure of social media is getting to me.”

"If you're struggling too, talk to someone," the commercial continued. "We got this." The commercial ends with a link to the Mental Health America website, a nonprofit dedicated to "addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and to promoting the overall mental health of all Americans."

Mental Health America thanked the "Talking Egg" for spreading awareness on the important topic. "We’d like to thank Talking Egg for shining a limelight on mental health tonight with an important message," the nonprofit tweeted. "Not everyone chooses tofight in the open for mental health, but you did for the 1 in 5 Americans living with a mental health condition. Thank you, Egg Gang!"

29-year-old Chris Godfrey was also revealed to be the account's creator Sunday night. In an interview with The New York Times, the creative told the news outlet why he chose an egg for his record-breaking feat. “An egg has no gender, race or religion. An egg is an egg; it’s universal," he said.

Twitter users found the partnership between the Instagram account and Hulu inspiring.

The World Record Egg reveal on @hulu was tremendous. Shout out to the #EggGang creator for using their 15 minutes of (anonymous) fame/massive reach for good. #TalkingEgg
