According to Deadline, the potential Quentin TarantinoStar Trek film that we first heard about just two days ago will have an 'R' rating if it is indeed made. That R-rating was apparently a requirement for Tarantino, and it was agreed to by both Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams.

In addition to that development, which opens up a number of possibilities where the series has not gone before, Deadline also reports that the front-runner to write the movie is TheRevenant screenwriter Mark. L Smith.

Other potential scribes include Lindsay Beer (who has credits for the upcoming Chaos Walking and Godzilla vs. Kong) and Drew Pearce (whose previous credits include Iron Man 3 and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation).

Once one of those three is hired, the film will be penned with Tarantino's vision in mind as he spends his time finishing his movie based on Charles Manson.
