If anything was achieved in the recent calls for more diversity in film and television, it’s that what the world most definitely needed was a young white male television character with an anus for a mouth.

Canadian funnyman Seth Rogen is an executive producer for the upcoming violent comedy drama television adaptation of the comic book Preacher, and took to Twitter to reveal the character Arseface, portrayed by Ian Colletti (Baby Mama). Yes, you read that right.

Arseface’s real name is Eugene, and in the comics his father is an abusive sheriff who causes him to attempt suicide, only to fail and end up with an anus-shaped mouth. The show is set to premiere on Sunday, May 22 on the AMC Network and previewed its pilot at this year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas.

Preacher stars Mamma Mia’s Dominic Cooper as the titular disillusioned and shady preacher who returns to his hometown in West Texas only to be bestowed a power by a mysterious higher being. He stars alongside Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), who plays his ex-girlfriend Tulip, and The Last Witch Hunter’s Joseph Gilgund, who plays an Irish vampire named Cassidy.

The pilot has been met with acclaim from critics, praising Joseph Gilgund’s subversion of 'sexy vampire' tropes and Ruth Negga’s acting in a scene where she solicits young children to help her fight presumed bad guys.
