PROMO: The Complex and Marriott Rewards Program Finishes Strong

Celebrating the campaign that took rewards to a whole new level.

We all like being rewarded. But we also like being challenged. Well @MarriottRewards and Complex recently teamed up on a program that took both challenges and rewards to a whole new level, offering exclusive experiences like VIP concert passes to a few lucky challenge participants. #NowThatsRewarding

By following an exclusive group of influencers on social media, fans that participated were asked to do a variety of fun-filled tasks in order to compete for specific rewards. Sounds easy, right? Well, some of the requests were pretty straightforward. Photographer Jordan Herschel asked participants to submit their favorite scenic photo of their city to enter to win a custom photo shoot. Adventure traveler Tiffany Nguyen asked her followers to post their favorite pic of themselves in nature to try and win a new pair of custom kicks, while blogger Gary Arndt asked for people’s favorite architectural photo from their travels to try and win some customized, autographed art. Singer Andrew Garcia asked fans to share their favorite cover of one of his songs to try and win a karaoke and cocktails experience at Complex’s offices. And musician 12th Planet asked participants to post a pic of themselves at one of his shows to become eligible to win a VIP concert experience.

But others weren’t quite so simple. Blogger Christine Amorose asked followers to post a “live action” pic of themselves doing something physically exertive to try and win an on-set visit to a Complex video production. Kiersten, a.k.a. The Blond Abroad, asked her followers to post pics of themselves doing something truly extreme, like cliff jumping or sky diving, to try and win a custom food tour of their city. And singer Melanie Fiona requested followers to submit a video featuring them covering one of her songs to enter to win a personal shopping trip with Complex’s Style Editor. All participants’ entries were submitted using #NowThatsRewarding.

In the end, while the rewards were pretty sweet, the vast number of creative, funny, and even inspiring entries were what really made the Marriott Rewards program such a huge success. After all, meeting a challenge head on and taking your best shot at accomplishing it—that’s always what’s most rewarding.
