Taking one of the gawd William Shakespeare plays to film is a risky endeavor, but the bold move has paid off after seeing the first trailer for Macbeth. Michael Fassbender plays the titular character in one of Shakespeare's darkest stories, and you can see the madness in his eyes. And Marion Cotillard, practically the queen of crazy eyes, takes on the role of Lady Macbeth. The whole trailer is unnerving, fitting for a tale in which the King of Scotland goes insane as a result of his guilt-ridden bloodlust.
Macbeth premiered last month at Cannes, earning rave reviews from the critics in attendance. It'll hit U.K. theaters Oct. 2 and release in the U.S. sometime this fall.
