Vermont police released a statement today acknowledging there may be a link to real estate heir Robert Durst and a woman who went missing in 1971. Lynne Schulze, an 18-year-old College freshman, disappeared at the same time Durst owned a health food store in her college town of Middlebury.

“We are aware of the connection between Robert Durst and the disappearance of Lynne Schulze,” Middlebury Police Chief Tom Hanley said. “We have been aware of this connection for several years and have been working with various outside agencies as we follow this lead.”

Schulze was last seen outside of Durst's store eating dried prunes on Dec. 10, 1971, the day she went missing according to the Burlington Free Press. Although her case went cold, police reopened it in 1992 and are following up on all leads that they receive.

The subject of the HBO show The Jinx is currently being held with out bail for the murder of Susan Berman, in Los Angeles, and on gun and drug charges in Louisiana.
