Before he was making reggae albums and rebooting franchises that didn’t need it, Eddie Murphy was one of the most talented young performers ever to roll through Saturday Night Live. While the show stagnated through much of the 1980s, Murphy emerged as a star and went on to become a global comedy phenomenon.
With SNL’s 40th anniversary this year, the show is conducting an online poll to choose the fans’ favorite sketches from each decade of the show. Murphy’s name was all over the ballot as you might imagine, and it was the above “Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood” that topped another Murphy favorite, “James Brown Hot Tub” in the final voting.
If you feel particularly strongly about a sketch from the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, or just feel like getting lost in an SNL clip vortex, you can head to the balloting site here.
