Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is (obviously) defending the controversial comments he made during an appearance on Meet the Press this past Sunday. In his most recent rant, Giuliani claims that he "saved more black lives than anyone" during reign over the city.

According to the New York Post, Giuliani cited his reduction of the crime rate in New York City to justify this claim:

I saved more black lives than anyone as mayor. Many black kids are alive with the policies I put in place with [first] Police Commissioner [Bill] Bratton. And they call me racist? I saved black lives.

On Sunday, Giuliani argued with Michael Eric Dyson after asserting that black-on-black violence led to tension between white police officers and residents in black neighborhoods.
