After a lot of fits and starts, it seems the emulation for the Xbox 360 is finally close to being a reality. Developer Ben Vanik released a video earlier this week of his homebrew 360 emulator Xenia, running a very-not-up-to-framerate Frogger 2 on a PC.

It's been a hard road to hoe for emulation when it comes to last-gen consoles like the 360 and PS3, and Vanik says that while Xenia isn't ready yet – it can't run even a relatively undemanding game like XBLA's Frogger 2 at normal speed yet because the emulation is running through a debug interpreter – improvements will continue as the dev cycle goes on.

Having worked on getting Xenia up and running over four years, even with the minor glitches like a flickering screen, it's a good start. Xenia isn't currently available for download, but it may be sometime in the future, though it should be stressed the emulation should only be utilized if you already own a copy of whatever game you're running.
