A woman claims that a Rikers Island guard paid her bail in return for sexual favors during her incarceration.
According to the New York Post, court papers say that 31-year-old Latasha Goldsmith accused Rene Alvarez Jr. of giving her money and liquor in addition to offering to pay her bail in exchange for cash. This happened three separate times while Goldsmith was imprisoned at Rikers Island last year.
Goldsmith was locked up for entering a neighbor's home and punching her in the face last March. She was released on Mar. 26 after a spending nearly two weeks behind bars.
The Post adds that Goldsmith was on cleaning duty inside of the Rose M. Singer Center on Mar. 20 when Alvarez told her a bail arrangement could be worked out if she agreed to perform oral sex. Alvarez returned the next day with the same offer, then grabbed her buttocks and asked to feel her breasts. Goldsmith was given money after exposing her breasts and buttocks to Alvarez. After exposing her breasts and buttocks to Alvarez, Goldsmith was given money.
A case has been opened by the Department of Investigation against Alvarez.
