A burglar confused a clerk at a Bronx grocery store when he attempted to rob the place while disguised as a cop last month. Surveillance footage shows an armed man entering the store around 8:30 p.m. on Mar. 21 in a makeshift police uniform and a police shield hanging from his neck. If the shield can't convince everyone you're a cop, what will?

Just in case the clerk had any doubt, the robber announced that he was a cop. An employee who overhead the robbery says the man had the cop mannerisms down, telling everyone that he was an officer of the law and asking them to go to the back of the store. Then he did what any good cop would do—robbed the place.

The perp, described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 35 and 40, escaped with $1,000. The NYPD asking anyone with information about the man or his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Should you encounter him, be careful—he may try to arrest you.
