The Oscars are still more than a week away and people are already accusing Seth MacFarlane of being a terrible host. He co-announced the nominations last month with Emma Stone, and although he was the first host to do so since Charleton Heston in 1972, he was met with charges of being "smug," "condescending," and even "nasty."

Ok, Hollywood can't always take a joke or even an insult, and the Academy is famously old-fashioned and stodgy. Surprisingly, they're taking a risk on MacFarlane, and honestly it has to be better than Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

MacFarlane should definitely take some tips from triumphant Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler—delivering the zingers yet remaining insanely likable. Presumably to that aim, the Oscars powers-that-be released a little video of MacFarlane on his upcoming gig. Watch it here. Does he win you over, or are you still annoyed?
