First appearance: The Sentry #1 (2000)

In an attempt to differentiate the Sentry from the other godly heroes in comics, Marvel decided to give him real world mental problems to deal with like schizophrenia and drug addiction. But instead of that making him an interesting character, the Sentry turned into a whiny sob story that was more of a burden than a blessing. Writers have spent so much time exploring his emotional distress that the character has become completely unenjoyable.

He may be uber powerful, but the Sentry strikes us as a character that no one knows what to do with in a story. And if we don’t want to deal with him on the page, we’re sure he won’t be any better on the screen.
