NBC has finally set a premiere date for the highly-anticipated next season of Saturday Night Live, which runs concurrently with the 2012 presidential elections. As announced on its official blog, the long-running late-night sketch series will premiere its 38th season on September 15th with host and musical guest still to be announced.

Well it's official, summer is winding down. And while we're sad to say goodbye to sun, shorts and the beach, we are excited to say hello to all of our friends and fans when we return for the Season 38 premiere on September 15th!! It's been so long; we've missed you! So take advantage of these last few weeks of summer, hit up all the spots Stefon recommends and we will see you soon! Cannot wait.

Not returning this season are major cast members Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Abby Elliott, and still on the fence is Jason Sudeikis. Seth Meyers is expected to return, and will resume Weekend Update duties.
