Original: Interview (2003)
Director: Steve Buscemi
Stars: Steve Buscemi, Sienna Miller

Sadly, Steve Buscemi got the opportunity to helm a remake of the Dutch drama Interview through tragedy. Initially, the original film’s director, Theo van Gogh, was interested in adapting Interview for English-speaking audiences, but van Gogh was gunned down a year after the movie’s release.

Stepping into the director’s chair, Buscemi did a fine job of translating the two-person premise for American audiences fascinated by the psychosis of “celebrity.” Since Interview was merely an art-house release, hardly anyone saw it in theaters, but its minimal exposure doesn’t detract from Buscemi’s and co-star Sienna Miller’s palpable, and at times explosive, chemistry.
