Watch the First Video of James Cameron's Deep Ocean Dive

"National Geographic" shares the video of Cameron's record-breaking descent into the Mariana Trench.

If James Cameron's tweet from the Mariana Trench wasn't proof enough that the Avatar director isn't the most badass person in Hollywood (and, perhaps, the world), maybe this video will cement it for you.

National Geographic's cameras followed Cameron down into the deepest part of the ocean as he explored and photographed a section of Earth that hasn't been seen in over a century. This was accomplished with the help of the Deepsea Challenger, a water craft designed by Cameron and his team that could withstand extreme pressure.

The video also speaks to Cameron after he returns from his record-breaking 35,756-foot descent. The most fiscally successful director of all time the bottom of the ocean a "very desolate place".
