The Last Press Conference

Year: 1962
Parties Involved: Richard Milhous Nixon

In 1962, Richard Nixon was poised to lose the California gubernatorial race to Democratic incumbent Pat Brown. To acknowledge his defeat, he called reporters to the Beverly. Nixon chewed through a bitter monologue where told the media, "You don't have Nixon to kick around any more, because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference." Of course, it was far from the last press conference the infamous politician would call. In 1968, he became the 37th President of the United States of America, a gig that didn't end well.
