ShareReactor

Shut down: March 10, 2004; October 2006; July 2010

Best suited for sharing huge files, the Swiss site didn’t host any files, but instead delivered links that were accessible through a BitTorrent client and eDonkey network. Complaints sent to the Swiss Anti-Piracy-Federation from several major companies (with Columbia Tri-Star Inc. rumored as one) led to the suspicion of breached trademark laws, resulting in the local police taking down the site. ShareReactor would return two and a half years later under new ownership, close down due to lack of popularity, then come back a final time under The Pirate Bay, and then disappear once again.
